Jewellery has been an integral part of our culture for thousands of years and has been subject to perpetual change ever since. Thus, the first pieces of jewellery were not jewellery as we know it today, but rather body painting which changed over time to symbolize power, to demonstrate wealth and to express their own personality. Today there are jewellery in a variety of shapes, colors and materials and almost no part of the body is left out. In the sense of "mix and match", there are no limits to one's own individuality and everything is allowed.
Jewellery made of porcelain is still a real rarity and enchants not only by the pure white materiality, but also by its diversity. The production of porcelain jewellery can be traced back to the beginnings of the MEISSEN manufactory in the 18th century. Under the leadership of the royal court jeweler and goldsmith Johann Jacob Irminger, the manufactory was already producing fancy goods from it in 1714, just a few years after the discovery of white porcelain. In keeping with this long tradition, the MEISSEN jewellery collection continues to set standards in the combination of precious materials. Through cut and polish, the fascination with the translucency of porcelain is expressed.
"Jewellery made of porcelain enchants with its brilliant white luster in combination with other noble materials. "
One of the most popular pieces of porcelain jewellery are the "snowball blossoms" which are still one of the most outstanding decorations of the MEISSEN manufactory. Created in 1739 at the behest of King August III for his wife Maria Josepha, the porcelain blossoms are reinterpreted almost 300 years later as jewellery with gold and diamonds. The snowball blossoms, so delicate and graceful, can now be found in our "1739 Royal Blossom" collection in many different variations - whether with embedded sapphire, ruby or diamonds - discover a very special love story and tell it to others.
MEISSEN is also famous for combining historical motifs and decor with contemporary design language, taking porcelain jewellery to a whole new level. With the new interpretation of the manufactory's most iconic decoration, there is hardly a better gift for gentlemen. The Chinese "Ming Dragon" stands for supernatural wisdom, for the spirit of change, for sun, light or the masculine power of Yang and is now an element of various pieces of jewellery. In new splendor, the symbolic "Ming dragon" also adorns our gents jewellery collection in black or purple and comes into its own particularly elegantly in the interplay with the clear forms of MEISSEN porcelain.
